Surrounded by local shops and restaurants, the plaza features a pavilion, restroom facility, entertainment stage, a gas fireplace, seating, and decorative lighting.

Be sure to stop by the Legacy Plaza to shop in the Farmer’s Market or get some delicious takeout from one of the downtown restaurants to enjoy in the park. Also, check out our calendar of events to learn about live music at the Legacy Plaza.

Events at Legacy Plaza

Through a grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, this $2.1 million project came to completion and was dedicated on July 1, 2021. The plaza is designed to honor the legacy of the Native Americans who lived in Ludington. It also looks to honor the lumber and maritime industries that are so engrained in how Ludington grew as a city.

In November of 2022, the Michigan Chapter of the American Public Works Association recognized Legacy Plaza with the Project of the Year Award for structures costing $1 million to $5 million.
